Responsibilities

  • Handle and oversee first party commercial property claims, including large losses on a national basis; proactively manage litigated files to obtain the best possible outcome.
  • Review claims handled by Third-Party administrator to ensure that loss reserves, and expense reserves are accurate and updated in timely manner.
  • Serve as First-Party Subject matter expert for Atain Specialty Insurance Company, specifically for first-party commercial property claims.
  • Evaluate coverage for first-party commercial property coverage forms, and draft detailed coverage letters, including reservation of rights and/or declination letters.
  • Provide counsel and act on coverage issues on behalf of teammates; critically analyze factual developments, loss/expense reserves and settlement opportunities based on facts of claim.
  • Provide outstanding customer service, build strong client relationships, and establish expertise and credibility with key stakeholders, including retail agent/brokers, and teammates within H.W. Kaufman Group
  • Respond to Department of Insurance inquiries and interact regularly with corporate compliance to ensure we adhere to best practices.
  • Attend mediation hearings and settlement conferences, when appropriate.
  • Support highly successful and growing claims team.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years as a Commercial Property Claims Adjustor.
  • Insurance coverage and policy review experience necessary.
  • Demonstrated background and expertise in first-party Commercial Property forms.
  • Demonstrated background and expertise in residential property forms.
  • Must be committed to education, learning the law of numerous jurisdictions, teamwork, and the financial success of our organization.
  • Strong work ethic, excellent analytical skills, and high energy
  • Commitment to exemplary customer service
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
